Dark Future is a browser game that is free to play. Tokens are the one
thing in it you can pay for, and nobody has to (section 6).
By making an account or by playing, you agree to what is written here.
If you do not agree with it, do not use the site.
1. This is an alpha
The game is unfinished and is being built in the open. Features change,
break and disappear. Your progress may be reset, and the whole world may
be wiped, without notice and without compensation. Nothing here is
promised to keep working, or to keep existing at all.
2. Your account
- One account per person.
- You are responsible for your password and for everything done with
your account. Do not share it, and do not use somebody else's.
- You must be at least 13 years old to have an account.
- Give a working email address. It is used to activate the account and
to reach you about the account, and nothing else.
3. How to behave
In the shoutbox, in private messages, on the suggestions board and in
your profile and username, do not:
- harass, threaten or abuse anybody;
- post hateful, obscene or illegal material;
- spam, advertise, or flood any channel;
- impersonate staff or another player;
- post anybody's personal information, including your own.
4. How to play
- Do not use bots, scripts, macros or any automation against the game.
- Do not run more than one account, and do not pass items, cash or
advantage between accounts you control.
- If you find a bug that gives an advantage, report it and stop using
it. Using one deliberately is grounds for removal, and anything
gained that way will be taken back.
- Do not attack the site or attempt to reach data that is not yours.
If you are looking for security holes on purpose, read the
Responsible Disclosure page first. There is a way to do that
which is welcome.
5. In-game money is not money
Cash, vehicles, items, ranks, Tokens and anything else inside the game
exist only inside the game. They have no real-world value, are not
property, and cannot be transferred off the site. Apart from buying
Tokens from us (section 6), nothing in the game can be bought or sold for
real money. Selling or trading accounts is not allowed.
6. Tokens
- Tokens are optional. You can buy them from the Token shop in packs,
at the prices shown there, in pounds sterling. You pay on Stripe's own
payment page and the charge shows on your statement as DARK FUTURE.
- What you buy is the right to use those Tokens in the game. They are not
money, cannot be changed back into money, and cannot be sold for real
money. You can sell them to other players on the Token market, for game
cash only.
- Tokens are added to your account as soon as the payment goes through.
Before you pay, you ask for them straight away and agree that you then
lose the 14 day right to cancel you would otherwise have. Your other
rights stay: if Tokens you paid for do not arrive, get in touch and it
will be put right or refunded.
- If a payment is refunded, or disputed with your bank, every Token from
that pack is taken back, even ones already spent. That can leave your
balance below zero.
- When a version of the game ends and the world is wiped, your Token
balance is kept against your email address, and goes onto your next
account once you confirm that same address.
- If your account is removed for breaking these terms, the Tokens on it
go with it. If the game is ended for good, Tokens end with it.
7. What the operator may do
Accounts may be suspended or deleted, and content edited or removed, at
the operator's discretion, usually for breaking the rules above,
but the game is free to play and there is no obligation to keep any
account. The game may also be changed, taken offline or ended entirely at
any time.
8. What you post
Anything you write stays yours. By posting it you allow it to be stored
and shown to other players inside the game, and to be removed. Do not
post anything you are not free to share.
9. No warranty, and what can be claimed
The game is provided as it is, with no guarantee that it works, stays
available, or keeps your data safe from loss. To the fullest extent the
law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from using it
including lost progress, lost data or lost time. Nothing here
limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for
fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
10. Changes
These terms can change. The date at the top says when they last did.
Carrying on playing after a change means you accept the new version.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts
have exclusive jurisdiction.
12. Getting in touch
For anything about these terms, send a message through the contact form.
